Running the ING NYC Marathon with Apolo Ohno

This past November, Coach John ran side-by-side with speed skating Olympic Champion Apolo Ohno. While running with Olympians is nothing new to Coach John, this was an experience of celebrity proportions.

East Hampton training group testimonial

“I just wanted to say that the speed workout at the track this morning hosted by John Honerkamp is a fantastic resource for runners looking to improve their time and I encourage everybody to go.  John’s coaching style is relaxed and friendly and I found the workout to be a really nice addition to my training schedule.  It is a great way to get used to pushing a faster pace and developing a rhythm at that higher speed. Definitely worth combining with the long runs on Sundays for your marathon or half-marathon training. Everybody should take advantage of this, as it is the kind of workout that is very hard to do on your own.”

No Bull – testimonial

“Due to restrictions imposed by my ego, I cannot reveal my 5k times before I met John Honerkamp. Also, it should be noted and I have been working with, and sometimes against, coaches since I was eight years old. John is the most accessible coach I’ve ever met. He’s clear and concise. He not only explains what the workout is, he explains why we’re doing it. I am particularly impressed with John’s knowledge of mechanics. At an age when my results should be in retreat, I’m only getting better, faster. It is all do to John’s remarkable talent and coaching skills.”
